Fuel Polishing System

Fuel polishing system and filtration unit

Delivered fuel polishing services through PT Witanabe, a contamination removal process that restores stored diesel fuel to operational specification. Fuel degradation in storage tanks is a common failure mode in Indonesian industrial and facility operations: water ingress, microbial growth, and particulate contamination degrade fuel that may sit in tanks for extended periods between use.

The service covers assessment, mobile polishing unit deployment, multi-stage filtration, and post-treatment testing. The key technical requirement is matching the filtration specification to the contamination profile. Water and microbes require different treatment stages than particulate contamination from tank sediment. Correct diagnosis before treatment avoids running the fuel through stages it doesn't need.

Fuel polishing sits at the intersection of preventive maintenance and emergency recovery. A generator that fails on degraded fuel during a power outage is an expensive problem. The commercial case for regular fuel polishing is straightforward once a client has seen what six months of storage does to diesel in a humid climate.

What this proved: Preventive maintenance services only get sold when you can show the cost of not doing them. The client's degraded fuel sample is the sales document.
